hiromi

Last night I had to see a performer for my dreadful music history class. Although i hate the class it slef, i enjoy the performances very much. Last night was no exception. Hiromi had been playing the piano for 25 years and was incredible with her instrument. She would jump up and down feeling the music flowing through her. She would get up and mute strings from within the body of the piano, all while playing a difficult melody with her other hand on the black and whites. I was highly impressed with her artistic ability and loved her attitude. She was a real star and i think Ball State was lucky to get her to come to its venue. I loved the musical and emotional experience. I loved it.

Straight No Chaser

I recently came across an a capella group called Straight No Chaser. They are a group that, by definition, no not use any instruments other than their voice. The band is made up of about 10 men that have incredible voices. It is refreshing to me to actually come across music with substance. Most music out today is all base, no heart, mindless dribble. I kissed a girl? Sure its cool and I can dig it, but what the hell is it about? Sex appeal rules music of today. This group brings back the art of music. They feel the music they sing. The crowd feels the music they sing. It is something special. If you haven't seen any of Straight No Chaser, you should watch just one video. Just watch one video and i promise you will be hooked like i am. Finally, real music is making its come back.

Music History

I HATE MUSIC HISTORY 100!!! Never in my life has someone taken something that i love(music) and completely turned me against it. The professor is undoubtedly a very intelligent man and he has good intentions, but he moves through material much too quickly, speaking Latin and French left and right with no explanation or definition. It doesn't help that the class is 3 hours long and we are not allowed to whisper or make a peep. I feel like I am in middle school. The second time our class met he called a girl an atheist because she didn't like a catholic hymn. The man is a tyrant. I have no doubt that this will, somehow, get back to Adolf and he will have a vendetta against me for the remainder of the year, but i can take it no longer. Give me liberty or give me death.

College

Im in to my college experience a couple weeks now and i  am loving it. I love the fact that i am getting to meet new people that i wouldnt have had the chance to meet if i weren't here. I am also glad that I am getting along with my roomate as well as i am. I didn't to a personality test or anything to get paired with him, but luckily our lifestyles and characteristics mesh fairly well. The weekends are the best and the parties are helli-cool (so i hear). [ :

Although there are a ton of great things i love about college, there are some downsides too. I can't see my family as much as i would like to, but then again i am a big family person. I also HATE my online math homework. Whose idea was it to make  a computer program that decides what grade i recieve? It deletes my work and is super picky about what i enter as my answer. All in all, I feel like i am going to fit in here at ball state and even though their are things i dont like, the good far outweighs the bad.
